NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced Belmont Head Coach Dave Jarvis will be inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame in January 2025 on Wednesday morning.
The eight members of the ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will be honored and inducted at the ABCA Hall of Fame Banquet presented by C&H Baseball, which will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, during the 81st annual ABCA Convention at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center just outside Washington, D.C.
"Coach Jarvis has been a pillar of Belmont Athletics for the past 27 years," Belmont Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Corley said. "He is an incredible leader of young men while consistently winning baseball games for us. I can't think of someone more deserving than Dave for this honor."
Jarvis recently completed his 27th season as Belmont's skipper in 2024. Since he took over the program in the Bruins' first NCAA Division I season in 1998, Jarvis has compiled a 763-710-2 record and is the program's all-time winningest coach. The Bruins have finished with 30 or more wins in nine seasons under Jarvis' leadership, including four conference championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances (2011, 2012). He owns a career record of 1,087-862-2 in 36 years as a head coach.
His dedication to the program and player development has produced 29 professional ball players. Guy Lipscomb – selected No. 151 overall by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2022 MLB Draft – is the highest draft selection in program history. Matt Beaty ('15) is also a product of coach Jarvis and has enjoyed a successful MLB career. Beaty spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2019-2021, playing in 240 games, including 15 postseason games, and helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series.
Jarvis recorded his 1,000th career win on Feb. 23, 2022, with an 11-1 victory over Middle Tennessee. On April 26, 2022, Jarvis picked up his 700th win at Belmont with an 8-2 victory at Evansville.
This past spring, Jarvis led the Bruins to their second Missouri Valley Conference Tournament berth. Four Bruins earned All-MVC honors including Mason Landers (First Team), Brodey Heaton (Second Team), with Jack Rando and Joe Ruzicka earning honorable mentions.
Integral to his players' whole-person development, Jarvis led his team on a mission trip to Nicaragua in the summer of 2023.
Prior to joining the Bruins, Jarvis spent nine years as the head coach at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, from 1985-93. With Jarvis at the helm, the Raiders were consistently ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association top-20 poll, highlighted by a No. 4 ranking in 1992. He was a three-time selection as coach of the year for the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference.
Jarvis began his Division I quest as an assistant coach at Murray State in the fall of 1993. He was primarily responsible for the instruction of hitters and catchers as well as teaching base running skills. Jarvis also used his extensive junior college network to create a recruiting pipeline for the Racers.
Induction to the ABCA Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the American Baseball Coaches Association. For consideration, a coach must have served as a head baseball coach and been an ABCA member for a minimum of 15 years, made professional and personal contributions to the ABCA, have significantly contributed to the advancement of baseball at the local, national or international level, and should be representative of high moral character and ethical standards, excellence and leadership.
The inaugural ABCA Hall of Fame class was inducted in 1966, with more than 350 individuals being honored since.
