Drake's Ashley Anklam Earns Academic All-American Honors

Drake senior Ashley Anklam has been named ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Third-Team Academic All-American in women's track and field and cross country, as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Anklam, who owned a 3.73 grade-point average with a degree in biochemistry cell and molecular biology, was a nine-time All-Missouri Valley Conference performer, having won the individual title at the 2006 MVC Cross Country Championship. She was third in the 10,000m and fourth in the 5,000m at the 2007 MVC Outdoor Championships.

 

She was third in the 5,000m and fourth in the 3,000m at the 2007 MVC Indoor Championship. Anklam ran the 5,000m at the 2006 NCAA Midwest Regional and was third in the 10,000m at the 2006 MVC Outdoor Championship.

To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career. No athlete is eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution
