This week’s Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Track athlete of the week is Lawson Montgomery from Wichita State. Teammate Aliphine Tuliamuk of Wichita State is this week’s Women’s Track Athlete of the week. Tim Glover of Illinois State has been named this week’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Southern Illinois’ Jeneva McCall reclaims the Women’s Field Athlete of the week title.

Montgomery won the men’s 110-meter hurdles Saturday at the New Mexico Tailwind Invitational in 13.77. He edged out Wichita State teammate Todd McKown, who finished second in 13.80. Both student-athletes’ times broke the stadium record, set in 1989 by Wyoming’s Thom Garrison (13.95). On Monday, Montgomery’s time ranked 11th in the nation this season. When converted for altitude, his time (13.81) leads the MVC.

Tuliamuk broke outdoor MVC and Wichita State school records with her performance Friday night in the women’s 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational. Tuliamuk finished fifth overall in section one of the event with a time of 32:39.35 at Stanford’s Cobb Track and Angell Field. She broke former Shocker Tonya Nero’s conference and school-record 10K time of 33:11.71, which Nero set as a senior last season at the 2011 Stanford Invitational. Tuliamuk’s time ranks third in the nation this season.

Opening up his 2012 outdoor season in front of a home-town crowd, defending NCAA Division I National Champion in the javelin Tim Glover claimed the Redbird Track & Field Complex record in the same event at the Illinois State vs. Southern Illinois Dual Meet, reaching a mark of 242-10. En route to winning the event, Glover threw 50 feet further than runner-up and teammate Brian Pflederer (193-00), claiming the No. 1 spot in the Missouri Valley Conference by 18 feet. He now ranks sixth on the NCAA Division I collegiate best list.

Jeneva McCall swept the throws competitions for the third consecutive week at the Illinois State Dual meet on Saturday to continue her reign as the top female thrower in the country. McCall recorded a toss of 58-03.75 in the shot put and 192-9 in the discus throw to hold the longest marks in the nation. The Dolton, Ill. native also has the longest throw in the nation in the hammer with the mark of 227-8 she recorded at the Vanderbilt Invitational on March 23.
