Day Three

Wichita State women down Illinois State, 4-1, and claim the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Shockers have been named the State Farm Women's Tennis Team Champion.

The Drake men beat Wichita State, 4-1, to claim the 2012 MVC Championship for the second year in a row.  The triumph provided the Bulldogs their sixth NCAA Tournament berth and fourth in the last six seasons.  The win also enabled Drake to equal the school record for victories (24) set in 2008.

Day Two
The Wichita State and Illinois State women's teams advanced to the championship round of the State Farm MVC Championship, as the No. 1 Shockers defeated No. 4 Southern Illinois, 4-0, while the third-seeded Redbirds posted the first upset of the weekend defeating No. 2 Drake, 4-0.

On the men's side, top seeded Drake and No. 2 Wichita State will meet to play for the tournament title on Sunday. No. 1 Drake defeated No. 4 Illinois State 4-0, while No. 2 Wichita State defeated No. 3 Illinois State in another 4-0 decision.

Championship matchups are scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, April 29, at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The women's matches will begin at 11:00 a.m., with the men immediately following at 1:30 p.m.

Day One
Higher seeds ruled in the first day of competition with several close decisions all awarded to the match-up favorite. The women of No. 1 Wichita State sent home the No. 8 Braves with a 4-0 victory early in the day. No. 4 Southern Illinois defeated No. 5 Evansville in a tough 4-0 victory. No. 3 Illinois State defeated host No. 6 Creighton, 4-0, on the women's side. No. 2 Drake also took care of business today sending home No. 7 Northern Iowa in a 4-1 decision.

The story was the same on the men's side. After two gruelling five hour first round decisions, the Braves and the Redbirds came out victorious. No. 3 Bradley defeated No. 6 Creighton 4-3, and No. 4 Illinois State defeated No. 5 Southern Illinois, 4-3.

Semifinal matchups are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 28, at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The women's matches will begin at 10:00am and the men immediately following at 2:00pm.
