The Missouri Valley Conference 2011 Player of the Year started the spring season strong with an impressive weekend, going 3-0. Budiharto cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Oral Roberts then clinched two 6-0, 6-0 shutout victories over UMKC and Nebraska-Omaha.

Junior Manca Krizman helped lead Drake to a 1-1 season-opening road swing as the Bulldogs opened the season with a 6-1 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock before falling to No. 25 Oklahoma.  The triumph over Arkansas-Little Rock represented Drake's first win to open a season since 2001.  She posted a pair of wins against the Trojans, including pairing with senior Gabriela Demos to clinch the doubles point.  She followed by going 1-1 against the Sooners, including a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 victory past Yan Kakovkina at the No. 2 singles position.  Krizman owns a team-best 10-2 singles mark this year and is 9-1 in her last 10 matches
