The Drake men's tennis team battled down to the wire in its NCAA Tournament showdown with No. 17 Auburn on Friday before the Tigers garnered a 4-2 victory at the Khan Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Illinois.

2012 State Farm MVC Team Tennis Championship
Wichita State women down Illinois State, 4-1 and Drake men beat Wichita State, 4-1. Both claim the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Shockers have been named the State Farm Women's Tennis Team Champion and the second year in a row for the Drake men.

Valley Announces 2012 All-Conference Honors
The Missouri Valley Conference has announced the 2012 men's and women's tennis All-Conference teams, with representation from seven different conference schools between the men's and women's selections. Student-athletes named to the All-Conference team were honored at the annual Missouri Valley Conference tennis awards banquet Thursday evening in Omaha, Nebraska, preceding the Valley Team Tennis Championship hosted by Creighton University.

Valley Announces 2012 Scholar-Athlete Team
The Missouri Valley Conference has announced the men’s and women’s tennis Scholar-Athlete teams, honoring 27 student-athletes for their academic and athletic performances. Sixteen student-athletes are making their return to the Scholar-Athlete team this year, with twelve receiving first team honors for at least the second year. Seniors Jessica Kunzelmann of Northern Iowa, Lutfiana Budiharto of Wichita State, Gabriela Demos of Drake, and Hannah Esker of Illinois State all are veterans to the Scholar-athlete team, this year marking their third appearance on the list. For the men, senior Gabe Nagy from Creighton, majoring in Chemistry and Pre-Med, is the lone men's honoree who has been named to the first team for the third consecutive year.

Valley Announces Tennis Athletes of the Week (Apr. 24)
The Men of Drake and Women of Wichita State take home Athlete of the Week honors this week after clinching the regular season conference titles this past weekend. Anis Ghorbel of Drake is this week’s Valley Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. Veronika Blaskova of Wichita State is named this week’s Valley Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
