Tournament champion, Illinois State, makes it to the NCAA Tournament for the third-consecutive year. This is the ninth time the Redbirds will be in post-season play. Illinois State travels to Columbia, Missouri for Regionals and will face No. 9 Missouri during the 6:30 p.m. game on Friday, May 18.
The Illinois State softball team will be headed to Columbia, Mo., for the NCAA Tournament, as announced on the NCAA Division I Softball Championship Selection Show Sunday evening. The Redbirds (35-21) are making their third-straight appearance to the NCAA Tournament and will open NCAA Regional play against No. 9 overall seed and host Missouri on Friday, May 18 at 6:30pm.
No. 2 Illinois State defeated No. 4 Southern Illinois in the 2012 State Farm MVC Softball Championship, 13-3. The Redbirds set a tournament record of runs scored in a title game. Illinois State moves on to the NCAA Tournament.
