Valley Indoor Track and Field athletes have hit the ground running this season, already breaking records and topping national charts. Greggmar Swift of Indiana State has been selected as this week’s Valley Men’s Track Athlete of the Week with a record breaking performance in the 60 meter hurdles that ranks second in the nation. Defending MVC indoor champion in the 60m dash, Audacia Moore of Wichita State, claims this week’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors with a standout first place performance this past week. J.C. Lambert of Southern Illinois topped the national charts this past week with an automatic NCAA qualifying mark in the weight throw, earning this week’s Valley Men’s Field Athlete of the Week recognition. Jeneva McCall of Southern Illinois takes home MVC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors with an automatic NCAA qualifying mark in the weight throw that topped the Valley charts.
Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the WeekGreggmar Swift, Indiana State, So., Bridgetown, Barbados A month after setting a new EIU Early Bird meet record (Dec. 9) and running the fifth fastest 60 meter hurdle time in Indiana State history, sophomore Greggmar Swift bettered that performance by winning the event at the Illinois State-Indiana State dual meet Saturday in Normal, Ill., with a time of 7.80, the fourth fastest time in school history. The Redbirds Kendric Smith was Swift’s closest competitor at 8.16 while Sycamore teammate Duane Brown was third in 8.19. The Sycamore leads the Missouri Valley Conference and is tied for second in the nation with Devon Hill of Miami.

Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the WeekAudacia Moore, Wichita State, Sr., Wichita, Kan. Moore took first place in all three events she participated in during the Herm Wilson Invitational Jan. 11-12 at the Heskett Center in Wichita, as the Shockers opened the indoor season. The defending MVC indoor champion in the 60m won the event in 7.54 and also took first in the 400m with a time of 57.50. Her 400m time set a meet record and her 60m time ranked among the top-25 on the TFRRS college leaderboard as of Saturday morning. Moore’s 60m time also was the best in the Valley this season, as of Saturday morning. Moore also took first place in the women’s triple jump at the Herm Wilson Invitational with a mark of 38-11 ½.

Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the WeekJ.C. Lambert, Sr., Southern Illinois, Harrisburg, Ill. J.C. Lambert won the weight throw competition Friday Jan. 13 at the Saluki Open. Lambert’s toss of 74-04.25 set a new Missouri Valley Conference record as well as broke his own previous school record. His winning throw was also an automatic NCAA qualifying mark and ranks first in the nation.

Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the WeekJeneva McCall, Southern Illinois, Sr., Dolton, Ill. Senior Jeneva McCall extended her NCAA qualifying mark she garnered in the first meet of the season. McCall’s throw of 77-11.50 in the weight throw now ranks her second all-time in SIU track history. She also went on to take the event title in the shot put with a throw of 55-11.00.
