Athletes selected to the Easton All-American teams are those who have had an outstanding season in the circle, and those who have shown Easton power and prowess at the plate. Illinois State Advances to NCAA Regional Final
Senior Jordan Birch tossed 16 shutout innings to lead the Illinois State softball team to a pair of NCAA Regional wins Saturday evening at University Field in Columbia, Mo. The Redbirds advanced to Sunday's Regional final by defeating Massachusetts, 1-0, in nine innings, before topping DePaul, 3-0 in the nightcap.

The Illinois State softball team will be headed to Columbia, Mo., for the NCAA Tournament, as announced on the NCAA Division I Softball Championship Selection Show Sunday evening. The Redbirds (35-21) are making their third-straight appearance to the NCAA Tournament and will open NCAA Regional play against No. 9 overall seed and host Missouri on Friday, May 18 at 6:30pm.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released the 2010-11 NFCA Division I All-Academic Teams and All-America Scholar Athletes Thursday. Eight of the ten Valley schools are ranked, with Southern Illinois being second in Division I. Fifty-two student-athletes received All-America Scholar Athlete status as Southern Illinois had the most athletes with eleven honored.
