Indoor Track & Field Weekly Release (Feb. 1)
The Southern Illinois women's indoor track and field team remains one of the top program's in the country, as the Salukis check in at No. 10 in the latest USTFCCA poll.
This week's Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week are Carlos Anderson (UNI), Daniel Gooris (UNI), Ari Curtis (DU) and Gwen Berry (SIU).
STATE FARM MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Carlos Anderson, So., UNI, Blue Springs, Mo.
Carlos Anderson swept the sprint events at the Jack Jennett Invitational, taking first place in both the 60m dash and the 200m dash. Anderson’s 60m time of 6.75 moved him into fourth place all-time at UNI and strengthened his grip on the top spot in the Valley. Only one MVC athlete – Jeramie Gray of Indiana State (6.74 in 2008) – has posted a faster 60m time in the past five seasons. Anderson also clocked in at 21.80 in the 200m dash, putting him at No. 2 on the conference leaderboard.

Daniel Gooris, Jr., UNI, Albuquerque, N.M.
Daniel Gooris used a strong final day at the Jack Jennett Invitational to capture the heptathlon title with a personal-best score of 5,517 points. Gooris won the shot put, pole vault and 1000m portions of the heptathlon over the weekend. He is now the Valley leader, No. 13 in the nation, and No. 3 all-time at UNI in the heptathlon. His pole vault clearance of 16-10.75 (5.15m) is also the top mark in the MVC and No. 26 in the nation.

Ari Curtis, Sr., Drake, Fort Collins, Colo.
Ari Curtis won the pentathlon with a score of 3,638 last Saturday at the Jayhawk Classic. Curtis, who holds the school record in the event set last year, won the event competing in her first pentathlon of the season, and also ranks 26th in the nation and third in the MVC. Curtis won the long jump and 800-meter sections of the competition.

STATE FARM MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Gwen Berry, Sr., Southern Illinois, St. Louis, Mo.
Gwen Berry won the women's weight throw in record-breaking fashion for the second straight weekend. After setting a personal best mark at Indiana's Gladstein Invitational, the St. Louis native set a new Rod McCravy Memorial record with a mark of 72-04.25, besting the old mark - set by three-time NCAA champion Jenny Dahlgren of Georgia in 2007 - by over a foot. Additionally, Berry narrowly defeated Louisville's D'Ana McCarty by two inches for the title. The senior thrower was joined in the top six by three other Salukis, as Jeneva McCall took third (70-04.25), Erin Atkinson finished fourth (63-09.00), and Olga Ciura claimed sixth (61-08.25).
