The Valley softball season ended Saturday night with both Missouri State and Illinois State falling in the 2011 NCAA Softball Championship. Each of the schools, won one game during the tournament before losing their second game and ending their appearance in the tournament. For Missouri State, it was the first postseason win in 13 years.

UNI and Creighton Fall to Top-15 Teams
The University of Northern Iowa softball team returned home Wednesday afternoon for a border battle with the Tigers of Missouri. The Tigers came into today's action carrying a 32-5 record to go along with a No. 9 national ranking. Nebraska collected 11 hits and scored 10 runs against three different Creighton pitchers as the 12th-ranked Cornhuskers knocked off the Bluejays 10-2 in five innings Wednesday night at the CU Sports Complex.

Brent Vigness Sets Creighton Win Record
Creighton head coach Brent Vigness became the winningest coach in Creighton athletics history Thursday afternoon as his softball team defeated Iowa State 9-3 for the 565th victory of his Bluejay career. Vigness, now in his 18th season at Creighton, captured the victory just 30 miles from where he grew up in Zearing, Iowa. The win helped Creighton split a doubleheader with the Cyclones, after dropping the day's first game 7-1.

The 13th-ranked Nebraska softball team defeated Creighton 7-2 at Bowlin Stadium Wednesday night, behind a solid pitching performance from Ashley Hagemann. The Husker hurler struck out the first seven Bluejay batters of the game and fanned 13 in the win. Solo home runs by Amy Baker and Christa Ruf served as the only two Creighton hits on the night.
