Valley Announces Dr. Charlotte West Award Winners
Brooke Demo of Wichita State University and Bryan Mullins of Southern Illinois University have been selected as the female and male recipients, respectively, of the Missouri Valley Conference's Dr. Charlotte West Scholar-Athlete Award, Valley Commissioner Doug Elgin has announced.

Four Valley Student-Athletes Named to 2009 Academic All-America Men?s Track/Cross Country Team
Four Missouri Valley Conference Track & Field/Cross Country student-athletes have been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, as announced Thursday. Student-athletes from three MVC schools earned the honor, including Evansville's Brian Joyce, Illinois State's Scott Krapf and UNI's Mat Clark and Ryan Grenko.

Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Notebook: Valley Athletes Register Some of Nation's Best Performances
Last weekend, twenty-five Missouri Valley Conference track athletes posted NCAA regional qualifying marks, including three performances ranking in the nation's top-10. Sycamore sophomore Clay Major improved his regional qualifying mark and moved into a tie for fifth in the nation by winning the men's high jump at the Pacesetter Invitational with a leap of 7' 2.5" (2.20m).

Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Notebook (Apr. 27)
With just two weekends remaining before the State Farm MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, a total of 68 athletes have posted NCAA regional qualifying marks in 33 different events. Fourteen conference-best performances were also achieved last weekend, including one of the nation's top decathlon performances in UNI's Mat Clark, who powered his way to a Drake Relays title after tallying 7,663 points, which currently puts him third in the nation.

Weekly Track & Field Notebook: 100th Drake Relays This Weekend
The Track & Field world will turn its focus towards Des Moines, Iowa, this week for the 100th running of the Drake Relays, hosted by Drake University. Competition begins Thursday, April 23, and runs through the weekend. Athletes from 66 countries will be competing with over 7,000 athletes expecting to participate.

UNI's Tyler Mulder recorded the second-best 800-meter run in the nation, clocking a time of 1:48.79 at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, while Kylie Hutson of Indiana State cleared 13' 11.25" (4.25m) in the pole vault at the DePauw Tiger Invitational, currently ranking third in the nation.

Geopfert Named UNI's Head Track & Field/Cross Country Coach
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - University of Northern Iowa Director of Athletics Troy Dannen announced today the hiring of Travis Geopfert as head track and field/cross country coach for the Panthers. Geopfert will be formally introduced at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, at the McLeod Center Alumni Suite.
