Men's Golf Season Ends at NCAA Central Regional
The Wichita State men's golf team dropped three spots in the final round of the NCAA Central Regional Men's Golf Championships, which conclued Saturday at the Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio. The Shockers shot a team score of 312 in Friday's action, and finished tied with TCU and Arkansas for 19th in the event after compling a team score of 914.

WSU's Spears Selected for US-Japan Matches
Wichita State's Ryan Spears has been selected for the 12-member team which will play in the 2008 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship. The team - which consists of eight men and four women collegiate players - will be coached by Mike Morrow of Kent State and Barry's Jimmy Stobs.

Illinois State Ends Season at NCAA Regional
Tiffany Hockensmith carded a team-best third-round total of a five-over par 77, highlighting the Illinois State women's golf team's final day in the 2008 NCAA Central Regional at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. The Redbirds finished the regional in 20th place, shooting a 34-over par 322 in the third and final round. ISU's three-round total was a 91-over par 955.

Wichita State, UNI's Weber to Play in NCAA Golf Regional
Wichita State's men's golf team has been assigned to the NCAA Central Regional in Columbus, Ohio, the NCAA announced Monday. The 54-hole tournament will be held May 15-17, and will be played at the Scarlet Golf Course. Meanwhile, Jordan Weber becomes the first UNI golfer ever chosen for NCAA postseason play, as one of six individuals chosen to compete.

Wichita State is the favorite to win the 2008 State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship. Led by MVC Player of the Year candidate Ryan Spears, the Shockers have won six tournament titles behind three medalist wins by the senior. MVC Regular-Season Ends; Murphy is Golfer of the Week
In what was the final tune-up before the State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship, Southern Illinois took second place in an 11-team field, which featured four Valley schools, at the Fighting Illini Spring Invite. The weather-shortened tournament was played on the par-72, 7,118-yard Stone Creek Golf Course in Urbana, Ill., on Saturday-Sunday, April 12-13.

Sobel Takes Initial Golfer of the Week Award
This week's MVC Golfer of the Week is Rikki Sobel of Bradley. Sobel was the top finisher for the Braves and the top MVC finisher in the event that featured also featured Southern Illinois and Drake. Bradley finished three shots behind the Salukis. BU's top three combined for a 696, but the #4 golfer in the lineup turned in a 257 while all five SIU players shot 244 or better.

Former Drake Golfer Named To Presidents Cup Team
For the second straight year former Drake golfer Zach Johnson will play on a United States team which will face international competition. Johnson, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was one of 10 players named to the U.S. team which will play in the Presidents Cup Sept. 27-30 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, marking the first time the matches have been played in Canada.
