Elvis Dominguez Named Bradley Baseball Head Coach
Elvis Dominguez, who has served as the head coach at Eastern Kentucky University for the last seven years and has connections to the Missouri Valley Conference that go back more than 25 years, has been named the 15th head coach in Bradley Baseball history. Dominguez, who replaces the retiring Dewey Kalmer, was introduced during a press conference Tuesday morning at O'Brien Field.

A rainy Thursday night prevented two of the scheduled four Missouri Valley Conference series openers from being played on this final regular season weekend. Sweeps Abound On Sunday
Northern Iowa shortstop Brandon Douglas hit for the cycle and drove in five runs to push the Missouri Valley Conference-leading Panthers to a series sweep over Illinois State. Sunday saw four sweeps take shape as Bradley and Missouri State joined UNI with the brooms. Wichita State rallied from Saturday's loss to Creighton to take two-of-three from the Bluejays. Indiana State lost a nail-biter to Arizona to close the weekend.

Bradley needed 10 innings to stop Southern Illinois 7-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference's Friday slate. UNI topped Illinois State behind Guido Fonseca's eight-inning gem while Missouri State took a 10-4 win over Evansville to give staff ace Tim Clubb his fifth win of the season. Wichita State and Creighton's series opener was postponed due to bad weather. The teams will play a doubleheader Sunday.

Bears Fall 8-4 to No. 8 Missouri; Creighton Survives No-Hitter
No. 8 Missouri took a rain-shortened 8-4 victory from Missouri State in the marquee game of the Missouri Valley Conference slate, Wednesday. Elsewhere in the Valley, Creighton took a pair of seven-inning contests from North Dakota State despite being no-hit in the opening game. The Bluejays took advantage of nine walks by the Bison pitching staff to take a 2-0 victory in the opener. Northern Iowa scored four runs with two outs in the ninth to bypass Minnesota 13-11, while Evansville earned a 6-5 win over Murray State behind Andy Pascoe's bat. Saint Louis University earned a 3-2 win over Bradley despite Grant Escue's best efforts and Purdue took a 5-4 win from Illinois State.

A pair of come-from-behind victories highlighted the Valley's opening weekend as Six Missouri Valley Conference teams opened conference play Friday. Brad Altbach Named Jewish Sports Review All-American
Bradley's 2007 baseball season came to an end in May, but the awards continue to trickle in for freshman pitching star Brad Altbach (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North H.S.), who has been named a first-team All-American by the Jewish Sports Review. Published in the July/August issue of the Jewish Sports Review, the 2007 College Baseball (D-1) All-America first team includes 18 student-athletes and Altbach was one of four relief pitchers on the squad.
