Missouri State 9, Creighton 5
Press Conference Quotes MVC Tournament - Game 4 Missouri State 9, Creighton 5 CREIGHTON Head Coach Ed Servais Opening Statement... “We just didn’t get them out enough. We had some chances. Really, the game was when we scored three runs, we had guys on second and third and one out. We had to find another way to score another run there. If you have a 4-1, 5-1 lead it is a whole different scenario. They gathered some momentum from that, getting out of that inning they dodged a big bullet from there. They got way too many hits with two strikes today, they were way to comfortable on 0-2, 1-2 counts.” MISSOURI STATE Head Coach Keith Guttin Opening Statement... “When they got the three, the ability to come right back and put the numbers up is very large in the game. Hitting up and down the lineup was good, and Tim (Clubb) was his usually self, making big pitches. He did a great job as usual.” On keeping the damage down... “It was big and he (Clubb) has done that all year. The past few weeks he hasn’t had that many runners on. He has the ability to get the strikeout and that is important. It shuts off the momentum at the time.” Starting Pitcher Tim Clubb On his performance today... “It was good enough to get the job done. I thought I was pretty sharp early on, but they really battled. They put the ball in play and rarely strike out. They are just very aggressive and pesky.” Catcher Kyle Paul On his at-bat after CU intentionally walked Ryan Mantle to face him... “If you are playing straight by the numbers, it was probably a good move on their part because (Ryan) Mantle had a couple hits early in the game. Lucky for me, I saw a pitch I could handle and stayed on it and got a base hit out of it to drive in a couple runs.” Second Baseman Chris Playter On getting the rally started... “It was big that we needed to score the entire game. Offensively, you have to forget what the score is, and have the pressure on all the time to score. That was definitely our mindset today, even when we got up by that one run. We came back that next inning and scored more.” |
