Jamie Jarrett Joins Missouri Valley Conference Staff
ST. LOUIS -- Missouri Valley Conference Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today the hiring of Jamie Jarrett as the league’s director of corporate sales. Jarrett joins the Conference office staff after serving as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals sales staff since 2003.
“There is no question that the Conference office staff has added a true gem in the hiring of Jamie Jarrett,” said Commissioner Elgin, who is in his 20th year with The Valley. “Generating sponsorship dollars for our championships and advertising sales for our television network are Jamie’s main focus. We are grateful to add his professional experience plus brand-awareness skills to our marketing staff.”
At the Missouri Valley Conference, Jarrett will primarily handle basketball tournament corporate sponsorship sales and advertising sales for the Valley’s television network on FSN Midwest, Comcast SportsNet Chicago and ESPNU. In addition, he’ll assist the marketing staff with developmental promotions, billboards, commercials and conference literature.
A 2001 graduate of Spalding University in Louisville, Ky., Jarrett played an instrumental role in helping the St. Louis Cardinals reach unprecedented ticket sales in 2005 and 2007. He developed and implemented several programs while with the Cardinals, including “Career Day at Busch Stadium” and “Bring Your Favorite Player to School.”
Prior to his three-plus years with the Cardinals, Jarrett spent two years as a management trainee at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Louisville and two seasons as a media relations assistant for the Louisville Redbirds Baseball Club.
Jarrett was a baseball player at the collegiate level and has Missouri Valley Conference ties, as both parents graduated from Illinois State University. A native of Effingham, Ill., he serves on the board of the Special Education Foundation in St. Louis and the Central Illinois Down Syndrome Organization in Bloomington, Ill.
