Missouri Valley Conference Commissioner Doug Elgin has announced the hiring of Lauren Venarchik and promotions for David Biancamano, Mary Mulvenna and Erica Stelling. Venarchik has been hired as a Assistant Director - Women’s Basketball Tournaments. Meanwhile, Biancamano has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Operations; Mulvenna has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Community Relations; and Stelling has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Communications.
Venarchik comes to the Missouri Valley Conference after spending the past two years at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, most recently as the league’s Director of Championships & Special Events. At the Valley, she will provide primary administrative support for the State Farm MVC Women’s Basketball Championship and the 2009 NCAA Women’s Final Four. She will serve as the staff’s primary liaison for City Awareness programs in St. Louis and St. Charles and will work closely with the MVC marketing staff to implement tournament marketing plans and corporate sponsorship sales and fulfillment.
At the MAAC, Venarchik was responsible for coordinating all MAAC Special Events, including NCAA Championships and MAAC Championships at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. She was also the chair of the conference’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee and represented the league at the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. Venarchik came to the MAAC from the University of Arkansas, where she served as the graduate assistant for the volleyball team while earning her master’s degree in sport management. She received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Rutgers University, where was a starter for the volleyball team and an academic All-American.
In addition to the hiring of Venarchik, Elgin also announced promotions for David Biancamano, Mary Mulvenna and Erica Stelling. Stelling is entering her fifth season at the Valley and has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Communications. Biancamano and Mulvenna have been on staff since July 2005. Biancamano has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Operations; while Mulvenna has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner for Compliance and Community Relations.
