SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - After three days of play at the NCAA Central Regional, Illinois State and Wichita State ended their 2006-07 season at Rich Harvest Links in Sugar Grove, Ill. ISU ended 14th, while Wichita State was 16th, both narrowly missing the cut to advance to the NCAA Championship.

Southern Illinois in 20th after first day of NCAA Golf Regionals
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team began play at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships with a team round of 314 today at the University of Michigan's Golf Course. SIU is currently in 20th place after the first day of the three-day, 54-hole event. Twenty-one schools are vying for the regional's eight team berths in the national tournament.

Illinois State's Ben Murphy shot a tournament low 66 on Tuesday's final round to help Illinois State to a 13-stroke victory over second-place Wichita State at the 2007 State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship. John Sutko of Creighton fired a 68 on Tuesday to win medalist honors by four strokes over Murphy.

Bradley sophomore Bari Erais gave the Braves the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf individual champion for the third consecutive year, but Southern Illinois fired a school-record and final-round 290 to win the team championship Tuesday afternoon at WeaverRidge Golf Club. The team title was SIU's first since 2000.

Wichita State Favored to Win State Farm MVC Men's Golf
Wichita State has been tabbed to win the 2007 State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship in a poll of the league head coaches. The Shockers were a unanimous pick, receiving all nine first-place tallies and 81 total points to edge Illinois State, which finished second in the poll. The championship is April 23-24 in Mission Hills, Kan., at the Kansas City Country Club.
