UNI Upsets Nationally-Ranked Nebraska, 5-1
Sophomore left-hander Jon Klausing pitched four solid innings for the Huskers to open the game, allowing just one run to keep NU within striking distance early in the game. Klausing suffered his first loss of the season to fall to 4-1 on the year, as NU's offense notched just one single through the first four innings.

UNI got on the board in the second inning with an RBI single from Pat Moran to drive in Brandon Douglas, who had led off with a single and advanced to second on a Husker error.

The Panthers took control of the game in the fifth off Charlie Shirek, as former Husker Deric Manrique led off the inning by reaching on an error before moving to second on an infield single by Mark Frieske. After a sacrifice bunt by Curt Bradley, Douglas drove in Manrique on an RBI groundout to NU shortstop Ryan Wehrle. Brett Featherston made it 3-0 with an RBI double to center to score Frieske.

Featherston delivered the game's biggest blow in the seventh inning as well, after Manrique and Frieske again reached base to lead off the inning against Jared Cranston, before moving up 90 feet on a sacrifice bunt by Bradley that came against Zach Herr. Douglas was intentionally walked to load the bases for Featherston, who delivered a two-run single to give the Panthers a 5-0 lead.

Nebraska prevented the shutout with Gerch's RBI single to left with two outs in the eighth inning to drive in Wehrle, who had reached on a one-out walk before moving to second on another one-out walk to Brandon Buckman. Gerch, Jeff Lanning and Steve Edlefsen were the only Huskers to record hits on the night.
