Missouri State Takes 2005 WNIT Crown in Women's Basketball
In front of the largest Hammons Student Center crowd this season, Southwest Missouri State claimed the 2005 Sportsview.tv Women?s National Invitation Tournament championship with a 78-70 victory over West Virginia. The Lady Bears? national title marks the second-straight season a Missouri Valley Conference team has won the WNIT. Last season, Creighton defeated UNLV, 73-52, in the WNIT Championship game to earn the Valley?s first national basketball championship.

Three players are three-peat selections to the 2005 Missouri Valley All-Conference team. The University of Northern Iowa's Alex Cook, Southwest Missouri State's Kari Koch and Indiana State's Melanie Boeglin highlight the group of 10 student-athletes. Voting was conducted by coaches, sports information directors and a media panel. In addition to the three three-peaters, Creighton's Laura Spanheimer and Southwest Missouri State's Jenni Lingor are repeat picks.

2005 State Farm Women's Basketball Championship
On a last second shot by Redbird senior Jaci McCormack, #8 Illinois State became a true cinderella story at the 2005 State Farm MVC Women's Basketball Tournament by winning 72-70 over #2 Indiana State Saturday afternoon at Redbird Arena.
