Three Softball Players Named Academic All-Americans
Three student-athletes from the Missouri Valley Conference have been recognized by ESPN The Magazine as Academic All-Americans. Creighton?s Christine Fukumoto earned first-team academic All-America honors, while Illinois State's Kate Stake and Southern Illinois' Amy Harre made the third team.

2005 Softball Season Ends at NCAA Championship
Southern Illinois was held hitless for the first time this season and Missouri shutout the Salukis 9-0 at University Field. The five-inning defeat eliminated the Salukis from the NCAA Regional Tournament. Missouri, which was shut out for just the third time this season by SIU in a Friday meeting, scored nine innings on nine hits in the rematch.

2005 Softball All-Conference Team
Creighton's Abby Johnson and Southern Illinois' Amy Hare were named the Missouri Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, in a vote by league coaches and announced at the State Farm / MVC Softball Championship pre-tournament banquet held in Wichita, Kan., this evening. Johnson, a utility player, demonstrated her value on offense and in the circle this spring, leading Creighton with 13 doubles, 40 RBI, .580 slugging percentage and 1.49 earned run average.

Three Teams Reach NCAA Softball Tournament
For the first time in Missouri Valley or Gateway Conference history, the league will send three teams---the Valley's automatic qualifier and two at-large selections---to the NCAA Women's Softball Championship. Creighton, the winner of the 2005 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship, will play in the NCAA Regional 16 in Lincoln, Neb. The Bluejays (44-11) will play Washington.

2005 State Farm MVC Softball Championship
Wichita State's C. Howard Wilkins Complex was the site of the 2005 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship. The host Shockers advanced to the title game, but fell 2-0 to two-time defending champion Creighton University. The Bluejays, 44-11, earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Softball Championship.

2005 Softball Scholar-Athlete Team
Five repeat first-team selections including three-time pick Amy Harre of Southern Illinois highlight the 2005 Missouri Valley Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced by the league office. The team includes 14 first-teamers and an additional seven honorable-mention honorees, while a total of 51 student-athletes met the criteria for the team, voted on by league sports information directors.
