Azis, a sophomore from Riga, Latvia, competed in the one-mile run over the weekend and took fifth place. His time of 4:01.97 moves him into 19th place in the nation at the moment and places hin into the No. 2 spot on WSU’s all-time indoor best list.
Traub threw a provisional mark in the shot put at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The distance of 58-06.50 was good enough for a third place finish, but the senior will wait to see if his 59-02.75 toss at the MVC Indoor Championships will qualify for the NCAA Championship next weekend. Traub also threw a season-best mark in the 35 lb. weight throw with a fifth-place mark of 60-01.75.
For the second time this season, sophomore Linda Feldberga broke Wichita State’s 800-meter indoor record and helped her chances of earning a spot at the 2006 NCAA Championships. The Latvian native broke the record at the NCAA Qualifier and finished in 2:06.77, currently the 14th best time in the nation.
Bridges improved her season-best mark in the long jump by four inches at the Alex Wilson Invitational over the weekend. The mark of 19-05.50 also set a new personal-best for the senior and puts her No. 2 all-time in Indiana State history.
