PEORIA, Ill. – No. 5 Evansville got just a single goal, but that's all it needed, as the Purple Aces knocked off fourth seeded Loyola 1-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament quarterfinals Wednesday. 

Evansville's Ian McGrath scored the game's only goal in the 58th minute on an assist from Trevor Baum and Zac Blaydes. The goal was McGrath's 12 goal and sixth game-winning goal of the season. His six game-winning goals rank second nationally. 

The senior has now scored in three-straight MVC Tournament matches for the Aces dating back to last season's 2-1 win over Drake and 1-2 loss to SIUE. 

The win delivers Evansville to the MVC semifinals for the first-straight season and the eighth time overall.

Evansville advances to take on top seeded Missouri State on Friday in the first semifinal of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship at 3:00 PM. The Aces and Bears faced each other back on September 23 with the Bears claiming a 1-0 win in Springfield. 

Loyola ends its season at 7-8-3.
