NORMAL, IL - The Missouri State Bears volleyball squad advanced to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship match for the third-straight year with a 3-0 sweep over the No. 5-seeded Indiana State Sycamores.
Missouri State won by set scores of 26-24, 25-15, 25-16.
The Bears (27-5 overall) moved on to the program's 18th MVC tourney title match. The Bears last won the tournament title in 2008.
Missouri State rode the play MVC Player of the Year Lily Johnson, who tallied 14 kills and 13 digs, recording her league-leading 23rd double-double of the season.
Missouri State was efficient with a .324 hitting percentage as the Bears tallied 42 kills and only eight attack errors. Missouri State's Lynsey Wright added nine kills in the win.
Indiana State was paced by freshman Nikkie White and junior Laura Gross in the loss. White had a team-high 12 kills, while Gross added her 22nd double-double of the season with 10 kills and 15 digs.
Missouri State will be looking for its fifth MVC Tournament title in program history on Saturday against the winner of the Illinois State-UNI semifinal. The Bears will enter the contest riding a 20-match win streak.
