Chicago Fire To Play U.S. Open Cup Game in Peoria
The Butcher Block at Junction City proudly presents the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup: Bradley Soccer head coach Jim DeRose announced during a press conference Thursday afternoon at the Butcher Block that Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire will begin the pursuit of its fifth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship in Peoria June 10 at Shea Stadium.

Bradley's Todd Reedy Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior defender Todd Reedy (Springdale, Ark./Springdale H.S.) was one of 58 NCAA student-athletes awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, announced by the NCAA Tuesday. Reedy is the second soccer player and fifth different Bradley student-athlete to earn an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.

Former Bluejay Odorisio Signs Abroad; Mims Names Top Assistant
OMAHA, Neb. ? More offseason news and honors for the Creighton men's soccer team continue to roll in. Bluejay assistant coach Jason Mims has been honored by College Soccer News as one of the top assistant coaches in college soccer. Former Bluejay and Omaha native Tony Odorisio has signed a professional contract in the Finnish Premier Division with FC KooTeePee of Kotka, Finland.

Aces Soccer Team Hosts Indiana, Plays Two Recent NCAA Champs
Evansville's men's soccer team keeps getting stronger, and so does its schedule. Coach Mike Jacobs announced the 2008 schedule today, highlighted by Indiana University's first return to UE's McCutchan Stadium since 1998. In addition, the Aces' schedule includes three of the last four NCAA Division I national champions--Indiana (2003, 2004), Maryland (2005) and Cal-Santa Barbara (2006).

Elenio Taken in MLS Supplemental Draft
Cory Elenio is one University of Evansville senior who already knows where he would like to begin working. Elenio has been drafted in the second round of the MLS Supplemental Draft by the Columbus Crew. The native of Ann Arbor, Mich., finished his senior year at the University of Evansville with seven goals and nine assists for 23 points.

Creighton's Allen to Play Professional Soccer in Europe
Former Creighton men's soccer All-American Matt Allen has signed a three-year contract to play professional soccer in Norway. The Omaha Burke graduate and record-setting goalkeeper for the Bluejays over the last five years, has signed on with a team based in Bryne.

Two more former Creighton men's soccer players will look to join the professional soccer ranks in MLS after Tim Bohnenkamp was drafted by the expansion San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS Supplemental Draft on Thursday and Danny Minutillo was invited to train with his hometown Earthquakes.

Former Bluejay Kamler on 2008 National Soccer Hall of Fame Ballot
ONEONTA, N.Y. ? Former Creighton men's soccer All-American Brian Kamler (St. Louis / Parkway West) is on this year's National Soccer Hall of Fame Ballot as released by the National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum this week. Kamler, who played at Creighton from 1990-93, last played in the MLS in 2005 and is one of 13 newcomers on this year's ballot.

Jim DeRose Named Soccer America National Coach of the Year
Jim DeRose, who just completed his 12th year as the head coach of the Bradley Soccer program, has been named the national Coach of the Year by Soccer America. DeRose follows former men's basketball coach Dick Versace (1986 U.S. Basketball Writers Association) as the second national coach of the year in Bradley Athletics history.

Bradley's Donoho Represents MVC on NSCAA/adidas All-America Team

Bradley, Creighton Take on Top-10 Teams; Eastern Illinois Sweeps Week 1 Honors
Bradley and Creighton will be facing teams ranked among the nation's Top 10 this week. Although the league was only 1-2 against top-25 teams last year (Creighton beat No. 17 Memphis), the MVC was 8-7-1 against the Top 25 in 2005, featuring two wins vs. top-10 teams (Creighton at No. 6 Duke and at No. 9 Penn State in the NCAAs).

Creighton's Dacy Out at Least Three Weeks With Knee Injury
OMAHA, Neb. ? Junior forward Byron Dacy of the Creighton men's soccer team will miss at least three weeks after suffering a torn left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a non-contact injury Saturday night in the Bluejays' exhibition match with Ohio State. Dacy, a preseason National Player of the Year candidate, had an MRI taken on the knee Monday.

Bradley and Creighton Featured on Fox Soccer Channel
As part of an agreement between the NSCAA and Fox Soccer Channel, the Missouri Valley Conference defending regular-season co-champs -- Bradley and Creighton -- will face each other in a nationally televised match on Fox Soccer Channel on Oct. 10.

Creighton Picked to Win 2007 Valley Soccer Crown
Creighton has been tabbed to win the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer crown, in a vote conducted by league coaches with ballots collected in early August. The Bluejays received 47 out of a possible 49 points in the poll to outdistance Bradley, which is picked for a second-place finish.

Bradley Soccer Player Danny Dahlquist Killed in House Fire
PEORIA, Ill. -- Danny Dahlquist, a 19-year-old member of the Bradley University Soccer team, died early Sunday morning as the result of a house fire at his off-campus residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Johnny Torres Returns to Creighton
Creighton men's soccer head coach Bob Warming has announced Johnny Torres will return to the Bluejay bench this fall. Torres, a two-time All-American and 2004 Creighton athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will return to school this fall to complete his degree while serving as an undergraduate student manager.
