MVC Notebook - Jan. 7
Monday, January 7, 2013
Seth Tuttle has earned MVC Player of the Week for the first time in his career. He was Newcomer of the Week three times last year as a freshman.
  • A total of 9 teams nationally have 14 or more wins through games of Jan. 6.  Creighton and Wichita State represent the MVC on the list.  Only the MVC (2) and the Big Ten (3) have multiple teams with 14 wins already.  The rest:  Big East-1; WCC-1; ACC-1; Pac-12-1
  • Creighton (13-AP; 11-coaches) and Wichita State (23-AP) represent the Missouri Valley Conference in the Top 25 this week (Jan. 7)
  •  Colt Ryan of Evansville enters this week needing 5 points to reach 1,800 career points.  Only 26 previous MVC players have scored 1,800 in a career (Kyle Weems of Missouri State was the last to reach that plateau, as he finished last year with 1,868.)
  • Since the beginning of 2011-12, Creighton and Wichita State rank among the nation's best in winning percentage.  In fact, the one-two punch of CU-WSU is unmatched by any other league.  The two have combined for an 84-14 mark since the start of last year.

Player of the Week:    Seth Tuttle, UNI

Newcomer of the Week:    Cleanthony Early, Wichita State
