Creighton at Indiana State Tabbed for ESPN or ESPN2

ST. LOUIS -- ESPN notified the Missouri Valley Conference of its selection of the league-leading Creighton at Indiana State men’s basketball game for air on ESPN or ESPN2 on Saturday, February 25, at 3 p.m. Central, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.

On February 25, 12th-ranked Creighton -- 21-2 overall and atop the MVC men’s basketball standings with an 11-1 record -- will travel to the Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Indiana, to meet Indiana State -- 14-9 overall and 5-7 in league play.

The selection of this telecast for ESPN or ESPN2 marks the fifth time that ESPN has used a “Wildcard” process to determine one of its MVC men’s basketball telecasts.  The ESPN or ESPN2 telecast will also be simulcast on ESPN3 -- ESPN’s multi-screen sports network that gives fans a 24/7 destination delivering thousands of live, global sports events annually.

“The Wildcard selection process presents an opportunity to showcase our top teams at the most pivotal point of their seasons,” said MVC Commissioner Elgin.  “ESPN is a long-standing television partner for the Missouri Valley Conference, and this selection recognizes the great season by Creighton Coach Greg McDermott’s nationally ranked squad thus far.”

Using the Wildcard Weekend model, the league — through its television partners ESPN, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX College Sports and Comcast SportsNet Chicago — reserves clearance windows for February dates in the fall of each academic year and waits until the midpoint of both the men’s and women’s basketball seasons to determine its final regular-season telecasts for both genders.

The week prior to the February 25 telecast, five Missouri Valley Conference teams will participate in the tenth annual SEARS BracketBusters event.

On Friday, February 17, UNI travels to Richmond, Va., to play at Virginia Commonwealth in a 6 p.m. Central contest on ESPN2.

On Saturday, February 18, Wichita State will visit Davidson at 11 a.m. Central on ESPN or ESPN2, Drake plays at New Mexico State at 2 p.m. Central on ESPNU, Missouri State plays host to Old Dominion at 4 p.m. Central on ESPNU, while Creighton will entertain Long Beach State in a 9 p.m. Central game on ESPN2.
