ST. LOUIS -- A limited number of lower bowl tickets and more than 9,000 seats in the upper level of the Edward Jones Dome are available to the public for the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional in St. Louis this Friday and Sunday, March 23 and 25.
“We anticipate these tickets will go quickly considering the kind of interest there is in seeing the defending national champions from the University of Florida,” said Joe Mitch, tournament manager and associate commissioner of the Missouri Valley Conference, which is serving as host for this weekend’s NCAA Regional.
All-session tickets for the two semifinal games Friday and the regional championship Sunday are available for purchase at $130, $120 and $110 each. Tickets can be purchased by at the Edward Jones Dome box office or calling Ticketmaster at 314/241-1888. Single-session tickets go on sale Thursday morning.
The Edward Jones Dome has been configured for a seating capacity of 40,645 and more than 29,000 seats have been sold through Monday.
Friday’s first semifinal game features top-seed Florida and No. 5 seed Butler at 6:10 p.m. in what is considered to be one of the few remaining David-and-Goliath match ups in the NCAA tournament field. In the second game No. 7 seed UNLV, the lowest-seeded school remaining in the tournament, faces No. 3 seed Oregon at approximately 8:40 p.m.
The 2007 NCAA Regional is the seventh NCAA tournament event that has been hosted by the Missouri Valley Conference in St. Louis in the past decade. The Valley hosted the 1998 NCAA Midwest Regional and the 2001 NCAA Women’s Final Four at Savvis Center (now the Scottrade Center) and the MVC also managed five NCAA events at the Edward Jones Dome, including the 1999 Midwest Regional, the 2002 Midwest first and second rounds, the 2004 St. Louis Regional and the 2005 Men’s Final Four.
St. Louis holds the all-time NCAA records for regional tournament attendance and ticket sales revenues. The 1999 NCAA Midwest Regional at the Edward Jones Dome drew 42,284 fans for each session for a two-day total attendance of 84,568 total and gross tickets receipts of $2.6 million.
