Creighton men's basketball junior Anthony Tolliver, a finance major with a 3.541 GPA, Tolliver has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District VII First Team honors.
Additionally, Tolliver was one of three MVC players (joining Illinois State's Neil Plank and Southern Illinois' Jamaal Tatum on District V) to earn a spot on the Academic All-District teams, and the only league representative on the District VII squad. Joining Tolliver on the District VII team was Iowa's Adam Haluska and Greg Brunner, as well as Nebraska's Jason Dourisseau and Bronsen Schliep. District VII covers nine states, including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, Montana and Wyoming.
With Tolliver's selection, Creighton has now had 10 overall selections in the last nine years, while not having a representative just once. Other previous honorees include Brody Deren (2003 and 2004), Michael Lindeman (2002, 2003 and 2004), Ryan Sears (1999, 2000 and 2001) and Joel Templeman (1998).
To be considered for Academic All-District selection, players must be at least as sophomore and a starter or key reserve who own a 3.20 GPA or better. Sports Information Directors from the district then vote for their selections.
Student-athletes from the eight districts that made have been named Academic All-District advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration, which will be announced later this spring. Creighton owns 23 all-time Academic All-Americans, including men's basketball players Paul Silas (1964), Lindeman (2003 and 2004) and Deren (2004).
Tolliver is averaging 12.7 points per game and tops the club with 6.5 rebounds per contest. He also tops the squad with 54.6 percent shooting from the field and 36 blocked shots.
