Wichita State tallied all five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, then held off a late surge by Indiana State to top the Sycamores, 5-4. The Shockers advance to Saturday's title game against host and top-seeded Illinois State. The game will be shown live on the MVC TV Network at 7:07 PM (CST).

Illinois State will serve as host of the 2013 Baseball Championship, at Duffy Bass Field May 21-25.

Garrett Bayliff of Wichita State has been selected Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today. Bayliff was honored for his performance during the period of May 13-19.

Illinois State held off a late-game surge by Evansville to top the Purple Aces, 5-3. The Redbirds advance to Saturday's title game and will await the winner of tomorrow's Wichita State/Indiana State game.
