Women's Golf Ends Season at NCAA Regional
COLUMBUS, Ind. - Illinois State finished in 19th place with a 973 (317-329-327) team score at the NCAA Central Regional at Otter Creek Golf Course. ISU's Stacey Miller ended her collegiate career with her best individual performance in NCAA competition, finishing in a tie for 22nd.
Competing as an individual, Drake senior Olivia Lansing (Dellwood, Minn.) shot an eight-over-par 80 to tie for 66th overall on the final day of the NCAA Women's Central Regional Golf Tournament Saturday. Lansing posted a 79-82-80=241 total. Named the 2009 and 2010 Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year, Lansing collected a pair of birdies in her final round.
Miller carded a 79 in the final round, finishing the tournament with a score of 233 (75-79-79), the highest for a Redbird. Miller finished in the top-35 in all three NCAA Regionals for ISU.
ISU seniors Marisa Milligan, Laura Harris and Britt Knutson also ended their Redbird careers Saturday. Milligan birdied the 17th and 18th holes and shot the lowest third-round score for the Redbirds with a 78. She tied for 38th place with a 237 (79-70-78), finishing 13 spots higher than last year's regional. Harris' third-round 84 put her in a tie for 89th place with a score of 250 (81-85-84). Knutson carded an 86 and tied for 102nd overall with a score of 256 (82-88-86).
Southern California won the NCAA Central Regional with a 907. Arizona State, Purdue, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Oregon and Kent State also finished in the top-eight to advance to the NCAA Championship. Georgia's Marta Silva Zamora and Denver's Kimberly Kim qualified as individuals. |
