Chris Wiemers Named Creighton Head Men's Golf Coach
OMAHA, Neb. -- Chris Wiemers, the head teaching professional at Happy Hollow Club in Omaha, has been named head men's golf coach at Creighton, Director of Athletics Bruce Rasmussen announced today. Wiemers replaces Bob Hanson, who resigned in late April after two seasons with the program.

Illinois State Ends Season at NCAA Regionals
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Illinois State women's golf team finished the NCAA Central Regional in 18th place with a three-round score of 963. The Redbirds shot a 339 in the final round to finish ahead of Harvard, Murray State and Fairleigh Dickinson.

WICHITA - The Wichita State men's golf team has been assigned to the Stillwater regional site, the NCAA announced in a conference call on Monday. As the Missouri Valley Conference Champions, the Shockers earned the Valley's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

MVC Announces Women?s Golf Scholar-Athlete Team
State Farm MVC Tournament medalist Stacey Miller of Illinois State and MVC Golfer of the Year Olivia Lansing of Drake highlight the 2009 MVC Women's Scholar-Athlete First Team, announced by the league office today. A total of seven student-athletes earned first-team scholar-athlete honors, and two others earned honorable-mention status. Of those nine student-athletes, five also earned all-conference honors.

2009 State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship
For the eighth time in the last 11 years, Wichita State earned the team title at the State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship. Teammates Dustin Garza and Connor McHenry shared medalist honors in leading the Shockers to the title, as each fired a three-round even-par 216 to eclipse the field.

ST. LOUIS -- Illinois State has been picked to win the 2009 State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship, according to a pre-championship poll of league coaches. The Redbirds received 77 points and five first-place tallies and edged defending team champion Wichita State, which received the remaining four first-place votes and 76 total points.

This week's Missouri Valley Conference golfers of the week are Dustin Garza of Wichita State, Olivia Lansing of Drake, and Tiffany Hockensmith of Illinois State. Lansing was runnerup medalist at the Islander Spring Classic, Hockensmith led ISU in its tournament, which featured 21 teams currently ranked in the top 100. While Garza was the top Shocker finisher at the Rio Pinar Invitational.
