Praught and Tuliamuk Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The USTFCCCA announced a total of 104 student-athletes that represent 67 institutions who earned All-Academic status. Aisha Praught of Illinois State and Aliphine Tuliamuk of Wichita State were the only Valley student-athletes to receive this honor.  National-finishing fourth-place team Florida State had six athletes named to the All-Academic honor roll, the most of any other squad in the country. Vanderbilt, Michigan, and West Virginia followed with five apiece.

The Big Ten Conference and the Big East Conference share the top-conference honors as 15 from their member institutions earned the plaudit. The ACC followed with 14 named to the list. The Pac-12 was next with 12.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region’s top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2011.

In addition to Praught earning individual honors, seven Missouri Valley Conference schools earned All-Academic Team accolades.  A total of 205 institutions represent 30 conferences that compose the group. To lead all conferences, 14 teams from the Big East Conference earned All-Academic nods. The Pac-12 followed with 11.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

Valley teams include: Bradley, Illinois State, Indiana State, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Evansville and Wichita State.
