Wichita State Earns All-Sports Trophy
ST. LOUIS, MO. -- Wichita State is the 2010-11 Missouri Valley Conference all-sports champion. Wichita State has won six of the past eight MVC all-sports crowns and owns a league-best 18 all-sports trophies.

Valley Announces Elite 18 Awards Program
The Elite 18 Award Program was established by the Missouri Valley Conference in the fall of 2010 to honor the highest achievement in academics and athletics by a student-athlete in each MVC-sponsored sport. Modeled after the NCAA Elite 88 Academic Recognition Award Program, the MVC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the MVC’s 18 team championships.

Indiana State to Host 2011 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships
Indiana State University was named the host for the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, it was announced today by the NCAA office. This will be the eighth straight year and the ninth championship in the last 10 years that has been held on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.

Nero Places 16th at NCAA Cross Country Championship: Earns All-American Status
Wichita State senior Tonya Nero became the 56th athlete in Wichita State track & field/cross country history to garner the prestigious all-american title after she finished 16th overall at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 22. Cross Country Regional Results: Nero Advances to Nationals
The NCAA Cross Country Regionals were held this weekend in Peoria, Ill. and Rochester, Mich. Wichita State's Tonya Nero has punched her ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championship held in Terre Haute, Ind after her seventh-place finish. Five Valley athletes were named to their respective All-Region Teams.

2010 Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Teams Announced
Thirteen women's student-athletes met the criteria, while ten student-athletes are on the team, which includes both women's and men's individual champions. Five-student athletes hold a perfect 4.0 GPA, with three coming from Southern Illinois and two from Missouri State. Wichita State, Illinois State and Southern Illinois have the most honorees on the women's side, each with three. For the men, Indiana State and Southern Illinois have four student-athletes that have earned the honor.

Northern Iowa's women's cross country team took first-place at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational, earning their first team victory since October 2008. During week two of the cross country season only four Valley teams saw action with each one taking advantage of the opportunity to run. The Indiana State men's team took the top-five positions at the Sycamore Pride meet with Brandon Query taking first-place. Evansville, Drake and Southern Illinois each had a top-five finish this weekend. For the women, Emily Toennies and Megan Hoelscher finished second and third for the Salukis at the EIU Panther Open. Casey McDermott of Drake also placed in the top-five.

Marc Burns Named Bradley Cross Country and Track Head Coach
PEORIA, Ill. - Marc Burns, the reigning four-time Missouri Valley Conference women's cross country Coach of the Year, has been named head coach of the Bradley University men's and women's cross country and women's track and field teams, according to an announcement Thursday by Bradley Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Cross.
