Indiana State's Justin Kunz Advances to NCAA Championship; Five Runners Named All-Regional
Indiana State senior Justin Kunz became the school's first individual men's runner since 2000 and the first Sycamore since Jessica Crowder in 2003 to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championship as announced Sunday, November 11, by the NCAA. Additionally, five Missouri Valley Conference runners were named all-region as annouced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.

2006 Scholar-Athlete Teams
The Scholar-Athlete Team is a unique Valley award in that it accounts for academic and athletic excellence. Those eligible must have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average (4.00 scale). Student-athletes must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing at their institutions, and they must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.

2006 All-Conference Teams
The 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country men's champion Indiana State placed three student-athletes on the all-conference team while the women's winner Wichita State earned four places on the all-conference team. Criteria for all-conference is placement in the top-10 of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

Indiana State's men and Wichita State's women claimed team titles at the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship in Lincoln, Neb. The Sycamores win was their third-straight championship while the Shockers win was the second-straight on the women's side. Southern Illinois Mohamed Mohamed claimed the individual men's championship and Drake's Ashley Anklam was the top performer on the women's side. By claiming the individual titles, the runners are named 2006 MVC Cross Country Athletes of the Year.

2006 State Farm MVC Cross Country Championship
Wichita State was as advertised, dominating the women's field while Indiana State claimed the men's title at the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship at Pioneers Park in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. 2005 women's runner-up Ashley Anklam of Drake moved up the podium to claim the 5k individual title in 17:36, four seconds ahead of the field and SIU's Mohamed Mohamed finished nine seconds in front for the men's championship.

Indiana State Men, Wichita State Women Picked to Capture State Farm MVC Cross County Championship
The Indiana State men's team and the Wichita State women's squad have been selected as favorites at the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship in a pre-championship vote by league coaches. The Sycamores grabbed seven of nine first-place votes while garnering 79 points. The Shockers snagged seven of 10 first-place tallies en route to 96 points.

Valley teams will have two weeks to prepare for the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship in Lincoln, Neb., hosted by Creighton. Pre-championship poll results will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006. Races begin at 10:30 a.m. in Lincoln.

For the men, Indiana State checks in at No. 10 in the Great Lakes Region poll that hosts seven nationally-rated programs. Drake grabbed the No. 10 spot in the Midwest Region behind four rated squads, while Southern Illinois is the No. 14 team in the region.

Indiana State Awarded 2007 NCAA Championship
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has announced that Indiana State University will serve as host for the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships.  The event will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championships Cross Country Course.
