Ping!Baseball has announced its 2010 Preseason All-American Teams, which includes Wichita State's Jordan Cooper and Missouri State's Aaron Meade. Cooper was named the second team, while Meade was a third team selection.
Cooper, a right-handed sophomore from Berryton, Kan., went 8-6 with a 2.78 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 2009. He led the team in wins, ERA and innings pitched. For his efforts, he earned first team Freshman All-American honors.
Meade was a first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 2009, going 9-2 with a 3.39 ERA and 89 strikeouts in a team-high 90.1 innings. He started 14 games for the Bears and picked up a save in his only relief appearance.
Meade continued to pitch well over the summer, landing on the all-star team in the Cape Cod League after going 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA for the Harwich Mariners. He ranked ninth in the league in ERA and fourth with 47 strikeouts. The Kansas City native was chosen in the 28th round of the June draft by the New York Yankees.
