Baseball Weekly Notebook (May 7)
The league's top-four teams (in terms of RPI ranking) each saw jumps of at least five spots following last week's games. Missouri State jumped five spots to No. 34, while the Shockers improved 10 spots to No. 44. Indiana State moved up six spots to No. 50, while Illinois State saw the biggest jump (12 spots) to No. 57.

Stamets and Parker Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List
Two Missouri Valley Conference baseball players have been named to the 2012 Brooks Wallace Award List, as announced Thursday, including Evansville's Eric Stamets and Wichita State's Dayne Parker. The Wallace Award recognizes the nation's top shortstop.

Valley Baseball Earns Four Capital One Academic All-District Honors
Four Missouri Valley Conference baseball players have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District First Team, including Creighton’s Nick Judkins, Missouri State’s Brent Seifert, Southern Illinois’ Austin Montgomery and Wichita State’s Kevin Hall.

The Valley has a combined 23-14 (.622) record against the three "Big" BCS conferences, including a 12-2 mark against the Big 12, a 2-1 record against the Big East and a 9-11 tally against the Big Ten. In fact, MVC schools have compiled a 24-18 (.571) record against the six BCS conferences this season.

Petree, Elam Named to HOF Pitcher of the Year Watch List
Missouri State's Nick Petree and Wichita State's Cale Elam have been named to the watch list for the Pitcher of the Year award, presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Petree and Elam join a list of 51 of the most dominant pitchers in NCAA Division I on the initial watch list.

Three Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List
Three Missouri Valley Conference baseball student-athletes were named to the NCBWA's Stopper of the Year midseason watch list, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, including Illinois State's Kenny Long, Missouri State's Tyler Burgess and Wichita State's Cale Elam.
