NEW HAVEN, Conn.  -  Western Illinois University senior Herb Donaldson has been selected as one of just two running backs on the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2008 FCS All-America Team.

Donaldson, the only representative from the Missouri Valley Football Conference, is the first Leatherneck since Mike Scifres in 2002 to be named to the team.

This season Donaldson was the sixth player in FCS history, and just the second in the last 15 years, to lead the nation in rushing  (162.18 ypg) and scoring (12.0 ppg). His 11-game totals of 1,784 yards, 21 touchdowns and 5.5 yards per carry rank second in Western Illinois’ single-season record books only to Aaron Stecker’s 1997 season. Donaldson ended a three-year starting career with 4,746 yards, making him the all-time leading rusher in both Western Illinois and Missouri Valley Football Conference history, and the 23rd-highest rusher in FCS history. Along the way he established three single-game and six career marks at Western Illinois and broke five conference records.

The team was selected by head coaches and sports information directors of FCS schools and certified by UHY Advisors, a New Haven-based accounting firm. The Walter Camp Football Foundation, an all-volunteer group based in New Haven, Conn., was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting all-America teams for the Football Bowl and Football Championship subdivisions.

Donaldson is one of three finalists for the Walter Payton Award, which will be presented in Chattanooga, Tenn., December 18.
