Drake senior Adam Templeton and Wichita State junior Graham Hatch were named to the first team Academic All-District VII men's basketball team presented by ESPN The Magazine as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Templeton was the only player from Iowa to make the all-district academic All-American university division team. Templeton owns a 3.30 grade-point average majoring in business management.  Hatch has a 3.73 grade point average in chemistry.  They are now finalists for the Academic All-America team which will be named Feb. 24.

District VII consists of schools from the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Candidates must own a minimum 3.30 grade point average.

The six-foot six-inch Templeton is one of the most versatile players in the Missouri Valley Conference, leading the league in three-point field goal percentage (.457) while ranking third in rebounding with a 7.3 average.  He has nearly doubled his scoring output from last season, averaging 9.8 points, compared to 5.4 in 2008-09.  Templeton has collected four double-doubles this season, including a 13-point and 13-rebound effort at Bradley Tuesday.  He owns the top three single-game rebounding marks in the MVC with 16 boards against South Dakota and 14 against Illinois State.

Last year, Hatch started in five games, playing all 34, while averaging 3.6 points per game.  This year, he's started all 23 games, averaging 9.3 points per game.  He's made 41.6 percent of his three-pointers, and is tied for the Wichita State team lead with 37 treys this year.  He also contributes 3.9 rebounds per game and has 20 steals this season.
