The NCAA has announced today that the Missouri Valley Conference will serve as host for 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship second- and third-round games in Kansas City, Mo. The games will be played at Sprint Center on Friday, March 22, and Sunday, March 24, 2013.
In an effort to honor the achievements of exceptional student-athletes, the Missouri Valley Conference, in partnership with State Farm, has created the MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award. Ten student-athletes have been named by Commissioner Doug Elgin as the honorees for the 2012 spring season.
With just one weekend remaining in the regular season schedule, Indiana State (13-5 MVC) and Missouri State (11-6 MVC), the top two teams in the league standings, will square off this weekend in Terre Haute, Ind.
Tournament champion, Illinois State, makes it to the NCAA Tournament for the third-consecutive year. This is the ninth time the Redbirds will be in post-season play. Illinois State travels to Columbia, Missouri for Regionals and will face No. 9 Missouri during the 6:30 p.m. game on Friday, May 18.
Missouri State wrapped up its 2011-12 campaign with the third and final round of the NCAA Women’s Golf West Regional on Saturday (May 12). Entering the tournament as the No. 22 seed, the Bears managed to move up two spots, placing 20th with Kennesaw State in the team standings.
