Illinois State (16-5 MVC) earned the top seed at this week's MVC Baseball Tournament, as the Redbirds claimed their first outright regular-season title in program history. Illinois State will serve as host event, from May 21-25, at Duffy Bass Field in Normal, Ill.

Northern Iowa Softball beat Tulsa, 2-1, making it the first NCAA Tournament win in program history. Later that evening, the Panthers fell to No. 13 ranked Stanford, 1-4, ending their season.

The field for the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship is set for next week's event at Duffy Bass Field in Normal, Ill., hosted by Illinois State University. Illinois State earned its first-ever outright MVC regular-season title after finishing 16-5 in league play – and the Redbirds have earned the tournament's top seed.

The University of Northern Iowa softball team fell to the No. 14-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers this evening in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Softball Tournament, 4-0.

For their outstanding efforts on the diamond this season, six MVC players from four different teams have been selected to the 2013 NFCA Division I All-Region teams.
